Mukuro - a snake, of course. ( ... or an owl ... ) Break - probably a white fox :|a Aeris - hmmmmm. . . possibly some kind of bird :|a

I HAVE!! But it was a while ago and hidden in an relationship talk about Viridian. She has a lot of the same core traits and skills: she is full of self things like self-doubt, self-hatred, etc etc, she uses misdirection to hide her feelings… but there are a few key differences that are letting her learn new things. Coral being full of HUGGING and SLUMBER PARTIES and NAIL POLISH PARTIES means that she uses physical contact a whole lot more to ground herself and others. She's a lot more open about her feelings because the people she cares about have topped her relentlessly into it. At this point she's pretty much shrugged and if anyone pushes seeing a shareable memory, she'll just go ahead and let them, because what can be worse than her team learning she's suicidal when they already don't trust her in death games?
In canon, she gets some of that kind of feeling of… I am not alone, someone understands from Toki. In Aather, she is getting a constant YOU ARE NOT ALONE YOU MATTER from her team and there are a lot of people she connects with who give her the same thing. Knife told her it was okay to be suicidal. Just. THE AMOUNT OF SUPPORT SHE IS GETTING IS HUGE COMPARED TO CANON, even if it's not always the type of support she can understand and connect with. There's also the fact that she's one of a team; she's not a figurehead, and she's not in charge, so she can let herself go once in a while.
What this boils down to, I guess, is that she is a lot different than she is in canon-- she's reached the point she reached in her final memory and is going past it into uncharted territory. Some of this will change (I THINK?!) once she gets her constant pain skill back, and she'll probably regress a little bit especially after sig-negs. But for now she is in a pretty different place that's fairly hard to describe because it's very superficially similar. >:/a But her responses are definitely nnnot always the canon responses anymore; she's trying new things and really working at herself.
…I kind of want to do the Hermana thing too because I love talking about ToI but FIRST! I am going to ask you what your characters would currently do IF given a choice after Aather is saved. If nobody has asked that while I am typing up an incoherent storm here.
Hm. AERIS IS DEAD. ... AS IN ACTUALLY DEAD unlike Mukuro who just thinks he might be dead and Break who is ... uh... dying. SO SHE WOULD LIKE TO GO WHEREVER HER FRIENDS WENT :(b IDK what she would do if they all went to different places. The other option is she just goes back to the Lifestream. Hnnnn. She might favor that one in the end idk idk idk my bff duty to the planet.
Mukuro would be torn! Luke was like WE CAN STAY IN AATHER AND BE DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND HAPPY AND YEAH and Mukuro would really want that. But the more he remembers he'll realize he's leaving behind Kokuyou -- which . . . I don't know if he could do. It's hard cos Ruby and Kokuyou serve a lot of the same function for him but in the end Ruby could get on without him and Kokuyou couldn't. It'll be a shitty decision time for him. RIGHT NOW he'd stay. Further down the road idk idk.
BREAK. . . IT DEPENDS. If he dies in canon before I drop him/we ~SAVE AATHER~ then he will go elsewhere. Poss wherever Zack or Sugata went. If he isn't dead by then he'll just go home to die :Db finish his business.
DO IT FOR HERMANA!!!!!! yes this is a question /camps out
SO OKAY it is not a secret that I loev Tales games because they have HORRIBLE THINGS HAPPENING and in the meantime there's a lot of character development and banter in skits etc etc. Lots of heartpunching, which I like.
Tales of Innocence is a lot quieter in that regard; it's about a tiny boy named Ruca who is bullied and constantly ;o; who… remembers being a GIGANTIC CHARISMATIC WARLORD WITH HORNS AND A TAIL in a past life. Only THINGS ARE HAPPENING; when people who remember things like that Awaken, they are identifiable and thus rounded up and used as soldiers/lab rats etc. So he ends up meeting and running away with his girlfriend from a past life, who is now a dual-handgun-wielding >8) girl who bullies him a little.
Along the way they encounter venerable party members who they knew in their past life! Like the guy that Ruca remembers killing in the first five minutes of the game! And his gigantic talking sword! They have been reborn as human beings.
Tales of Innocence actually takes on some of the same themes as Aather/other memory games; there's a lot of focus on regaining memories from their past life to just find out what happened, only to realize that, uh, it's not necessarily good stuff since they're living totally different lives now. Like… IDK how much you have been following Mithos and Lloyd, but there's a similar situation that crops up where two of the party members actually killed Ruca's past life… but none of them remember it-- they just remember the parts where they were pretending to get along, so they think they were all friends! It's a little different in that they DID like him, just… not enough to not kill him… but yes. There's a bit where a girl who's not a party member remembers something critical before the rest of the party does, but they don't believe her and thus she doesn't become a party member! (…but it's true.) SO THERE'S A LOT OF MEMORY ANTICS THERE THAT I QUITE ENJOY.
But yeah, it's a very quiet game and doesn't have the OH MY GOD SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE or I DESTROYED AKZERIUTH or I HAVE TO KILL MY BEST FRIEND that some of the larger console mothership titles have; it's basically a story about a bunch of people rediscovering their identities/memories and being dorky together and bullying the protagonist into developing a backbone. \o/
and then I apped a memory game into a memory game the end
…sob okay DO YOU THINK ANYTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE FOR AERIS once she remembers being not-dead?
uhhh. Not a lot in terms of personality -- though she may end up being softer. SHE IS KIND OF HARD ON PEOPLE RIGHT NOW :'D;; But in terms of life schedule it will help a lot. Right now she has a terrible sleep/eat schedule and sort of puts things off because it just. NORMAL ROUTINE STUFF ISN'T SOMETHING YOU DO IN THE LIFESTREAM??? So yeah.
Uhhh hmm. I HAVE LIKE THIS LIST OF CHARACTERS I HAVE POKED IDLY AT! But they are all disqualified for me never actually finishing their canon or already playing a character type close enough. Hermana and Ginshu have a good range for me. Probably an old lady or a dude, though.
EXCEPTIONS: If I did not fail at being British I would totally app a Freakangel just for gorgeous icons, and if her canon did not disqualify her by… not actually being an appable canon for memories unless one accepts a certain degree of fanon (…all her memories are alternities otherwise…), I would app Iwashita in a HEARTBEAT kyaa kyaa.
