Dawn tends to have higher expectations of the people around him, and he is big on encouraging people to better themselves and understand more, but Dera takes it as YOU AREN'T SUPPORTING ME which isn't how he means it, but he can understand that if it was reversed Dera would definitely support him (even if it is illogical and not at all what Luke wants) so he can also change himself by angling things different. He still won't be like YES DERA IT IS OKAY TO PUNCH PEOPLE but he will try to smooth things out by focusing on the other party more.
