OKAY so Souya really likes Acedia (I was going to say Dick but "Souya really likes Dick" had an unfortunate second meaning) and really appreciates that he's trying not to be crazy. He could tell siiince the very first bad game with Ruby that he was trying to show concern and didn't manage to, but intention counts. And then he heard about the broken finger and the fallout of that and he sort of understood that Acedia acted on impulses and then they talked and the main reason he offered help was because with someone like Acedia on the loose, Ruby could easily become LEPERTEAM 'cause he'd met most of Ruby and they have a very strong team mentality, and messing with one of them is messing with all of us, etc etc. So Souya saw that like a bad thing that could happen if no one did anything, so he figured talking to Acedia and trying to explain the situation in a way he could understand would help. And it did \o/
And Acedia kept talking to him, so he figures he did something right and if he continues to do things right he can be a long-term good influence on him, so he's all for that.
THE VOLUNTEERING FOR CUTTINGS was because Souya really doesn't mind pain all that much, he doesn't like it but he can deal with it no problem and he figures in the case Acedia takes him up for it and it is found out, it'll be easier to deal with it with him being both a knight and 100% cool with it. (If Riful wasn't a knight he would've spoken to her and her team before telling Acedia to go ahead and play) he isn't sure of what to think about Acedia not taking him up for it, on the bright side it means he isn't getting his kicks out of hurting random people, on the not so bright one it means he... wants to hurt specific people... like Gil, who is kind of a wuss.
Another thing is that at first it didn't occur to him to talk to other people about Acedia, mostly 'cause he figured no one would really get it. After that it was mostly out of concern that whoever he talked to would try to get involved and then Acedia would withdraw, which Souya doesn't want because his objective is for Acedia to be a happy, functional person. So unless he feels the situation is getting completely out of his hands he's gonna try to be a good big brother figure by himself. ON THAT NOTE, he feels very responsible for him, in a 'that's my crazy little brother' kind of way.
