Acedia doesn't believe in love, mostly. He knows people who do. But generally . . . like. Dawn says he loves a lot of things so it's a normal state for Dawn (in Acedia's opinion) but he doesn't . . . understand it for himself. When he cares for people it's a different bent and he successfully duped himself into thinking about his closest companions as tools (which he cared for and was dere for BUT THAT IS NOT IMPORTANT!1) for years so it's . . . kind of. . . weird. Also I assume growing up there was a fair amount of like GLORY FOR THE FAMILY and LOVE FOR THE FAMILY which he immediately rejects because it's clearly just a device to try and placate people when you off them. Also he knows that love can be corrupt or overthrown with the right instances for some people so it is kind of a . . . weird weak concept he doesn't understand.
